Everton Frantic for Points at Goodison Park

Ross Barkley Everton

Everton could be in danger of finding itself in the bottom quarter of the table if it doesn’t start bagging three points at home regularly. Newcastle United, already there and franticly attempting to climb up the table, is up next for the Toffees at Goodison Park Wednesday.

Shark Bites
  • Everton won the reverse fixture 1-0 back on December 26.
  • Five of the last seven meetings at Goodison Park have finished with OVER 3 goals.
  • Everton has won three of the last four meetings at Goodison Park.

At online shop Bovada, Everton is -155 in moneyline markets while Newcastle is +395 and the Draw is +305. The total is presently 3 with OVER +105 and UNDER -130.

The Magpies looked like that may be on the right path after recording a 2-1 win against West Ham on January 16, but promptly followed that up with a porous effort away at Watford last time out. Newcastle is presently 18th in the table with 21 points – just two up on neighbors Sunderland.

Everton hasn’t had any issues scoring goals, but preventing them has been a glaring weakness. The Toffees have just three points from their past five games and have given up 10 in that stretch.

Everton, and specifically manager Roberto Martinez, need to start finding a bit of form as the season begins to wind down. The Toffees are a much better side than their 12th spot in the table suggests and a win over Newcastle in front of the faithful home support could be the catalyst needed to make a late-season push on the top six.
