Expect Goals in Germany-Slovakia Match Sunday

Mario Gomez Germany Euro 2016

After winning Group C, Germany now faces a tough Slovakia team that is coming off a good performance in a 0-0 draw versus England to qualify as one of the top third-placed teams. Despite Euro 2016 fixtures averaging just around 1.9 goals scored per game and the UNDER cashing at a good clip, these two teams like to score when they meet and we could see goals Sunday in Lille.

SHARK BITES
  • Slovakia has three wins, two draws and one loss in their last six matches.
  • Germany’s Jerome Boateng should be ready to return from an injury for this game.
  • Seven Slovakian players are one booking away from a suspension.

At online shop Bovada, Germany is a big fave at -225 while Slovakia comes in at +800 and the Draw at +320. In spread markets, Germany is a 1-goal favorite at -135 while Slovakia is +110 as the underdog. As far as the total is concerned, OVER 2 goals is -130 while UNDER 2 goals is +110.

Germany has yet to concede and hasn’t actually hit its stride in terms of finishing but history tells us that these two teams like to fill the back of the net. In their five meetings, there has been an average of 3.2 goals scored per game with OVER 2 goals going 3-0-2 in those five.

The last time they met was a friendly back in May which Slovakia won 3-1 thanks to goals from Michal Duris, Juraj Kucka and Marek Hamsik. Hamsik in particular has been brilliant for Slovakia at Euro 2016 and he as one goal and one assist and an 86.5 percent pass-completion percentage into Sunday’s game.

Germany has been one of the favorites of the tournament since odds hit the board and deservedly so. They are the World Cup holders and are loaded with talent but have yet to make their mark in France.

Germany is a huge fave here, but for values’ sake, OVER that low 2-goal total could be a wise selection.
