Wigan got off to a rough start in the FA Cup playing to a pretty shocking 1-1 home draw facing League 1 side AFC Bournemouth.
They had to face a tough replay match on the road and came out on top beating AFC Bournemouth 1-0. Next they beat non-league side Macclesfield in the 4th round and after that they crushed Championship League side Huddersfield Town 4-1 in the 5th round.
While both of those matches were on the road they were not against elite teams. [ FA Cup Odds - Wigan vs Man City Preview ]
The quarterfinals match facing Everton on the road was THE FA Cup match for Wigan and they came up big with a 3-0 win over an Everton side, which has been around the top 10 in the EPL for most of the season. In the semifinals they ended the Cinderella team of Millwall to earn their spot in the FA Cup Final.
Wigan did not have to face any of the big clubs in the EPL to advance to the FA Cup final, but it is interesting that they won every match in the competition on the road. So, can they beat Manchester City?

Forst of all Wigan really has nothing to lose since they are the BIG underdogs. For match odds Manchester City is at 1.40 with Wigan at 8.00 with the draw at 4.75. They are the major underdogs and there is really no pressure on them.
In Wigan’s last match facing Manchester City at City in the middle of April Wigan looked like the better team eventually losing 1-0 on a goal in the 83rd minute.
In that match they had a few near misses, played to a dead heat with City in time of possession (50% to 50%), and while they had fewer shots overall they had twice as many shots on goal (4 to 2).
Wigan can breath easy knowing they will not be relegated so they will be able to rest some key players for the FA Cup Final. Also, Wigan has had some big matches this season with wins over the likes of Tottenham, which was on the road, Everton in the FA Cup, and a 2-2 draw against Tottenham late in April.
Some favorable bets for Tottenham in the FA Cup Final may be the Under goals total since in the 2 matches facing Man City this season both of those matches went under and the first half draw since Wigan will be careful on defense in the first half and look for counter attack chances on the 2nd one.
Wigan is the HUGE underdog, but stranger things have happened in the FA Cup and Wigan is an EPL side that is playing with confidence heading to Wembley.
