Heavywight Semifinal Will Most Likely Produce Euro Winner

If France needed any more motivation in their semifinal match against the Germans, it’s been two years since Germany eliminated them in the quarterfinal of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The French will try to qualify for the Euro finals in front of their home crowd in Marseille on Thursday.

SHARK BITES
  • The goal they conceded to Italy was Germany’s first of the tournament.
  • France has won the last two major international tournaments it has hosted.
  • France hasn’t made it past the semifinals of the Euros since they won in 2000.

For the majority of the tournament, France has relied on late magic to get them by weak squads such as Albania, Romania and the Republic of Ireland. Their 5-2 demolishing of Iceland skews the stats a bit but nonetheless, the French have not played a team like Germany at these Euros.

Germany has been good these Euros but not great. They have had some serious struggles in the attacking third of the pitch and can’t get their finishing touches to go. If they want to beat France they will want to put away one or two first-half goals.

It’s basically a pick'em in moneyline markets on Bovada but France is the slight +175 favorite. It is likely both these teams will spend the majority of the game feeling each other out and we could easily see extra time and maybe even penalties – where Schweinsteiger and Müller will most likely not participate.
