Manchester City Standing in Madrid’s Way

Cristiano Ronaldo Real Madrid Champions League

The Champions League semifinal round begins Tuesday in England as Manchester City plays in its first ever semifinal matchup. The task is not an easy one as Spanish giants Real Madrid invade the Etihad Stadium.

Shark Bites
  • Real has kept a clean sheet in eight of its last 10 matches in Champions League.
  • Real’s last five games (all competitions) have gone OVER 2.5 goals.
  • Ronaldo leads the Champions League with 16 goals - eight more than anyone else.

At online shop Bet365, Read Madrid is the slight fave at +150 in moneyline markets while Manchester City comes in at +200 and the Draw +240. As far as the total is concerned, OVER 2.5 goals is -125 while UNDER 2.5 comes in at +100.

City is already on the back foot as it will be without midfield-lynchpin Yaya Toure. Toure picked up an injury in the Citizens’ 4-0 romp over Stoke on the weekend. As a result, City will probably field a Brazilian midfield of Fernandinho and Fernando for Tuesday’s fixture with Madrid.

Speaking of Los Blancos, they have won five-straight games in all competitions and have really found their scoring boots in those games. Real has tallied a whopping 18 goals over that stretch, including three versus Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in their most recent Champions League fixture.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed Real’s weekend meeting with Rayo Vallecano, but should be ready for Tuesday’s meeting with Manchester City.
