The Los Angeles Galaxy opened the 2015 MLS season as the favorites to repeat as the MLS Cup champions, and midway through the summer they still sit atop those soccer betting odds at the online sportsbooks.

The Los Angeles Galaxy are sitting as the strong 10/3 favorites to repeat as MLS Cup champions at the online sportsbooks with the season set to get underway this week.

The Galaxy established themselves as a legitimate soccer dynasty last season by claiming their third MLS Cup title in the past four years, and fifth since 2002, after opening the campaign as 9/2 favorites. Led by Irish striker Robbie Keane’s 19 goals, the club won 17 games en route to a second-place finish in the Western Conference table, three points behind the Seattle Sounders.

Los Angeles proved dominant in the MLS playoffs, crushing Real Salt Lake 5-0 in the Western semifinals before getting past the Sounders in the Western Conference final to earn their ninth MLS Cup berth, topping the New England Revolution 2-1 in extra time, and rewarding bettors as heavy 2/5 gameday favorites on the MLS betting lines.

The Sounders are Los Angeles' closest competition, pegged at 5/1 in MLS Cup futures betting at Bovada. Seattle posted a franchise-best 20 wins last season, after opening their campaign trailing the odds leaders at 9/1.

The Revolution sits next on the MLS futures menu at Bovada, deadlocked with DC United at 8/1.

After opening their 2014 season with just two wins in their first seven matches, New England roared to life, picking up points in 14 of their final 15 regular-season matches, matching the Galaxy’s 17-win total and claiming second-place in the Eastern Conference table. But for a fifth time in franchise history, the Revs came up short in the MLS Cup final match.

It was a disappointing 2014 for DC United, who finished at the top of the Eastern Conference table after being pegged as 50/1 preseason betting longshots, only to make an early playoff exit at the hands of the New York Red Bulls.

Salt Lake trails the MLS odds favorites at Bovada at 10/1, followed by Toronto FC and the expansion New York City FC, both at 14/1. The Columbus Crew own odds of 16/1, followed by four sides at 20/1, including FC Dallas, Sporting Kansas City, and the expansion Orlando City.

The Portland Timbers are pegged at 25/1 at Bovada, closely followed by their arch rivals, the Vancouver Whitecaps, at 28/1, and the Chicago Fire at 40/1, while five teams share the distinction of MLS Cup betting longshots, as the Colorado Rapids, Houston Dynamo, Montreal Impact, Philadelphia Union, and San Jose Earthquakes each open the season at 50/1 odds.
