Shark Bites
  • Spurs are tied with Manchester City for the best goal differential at +18.
  • With 21 points from a possible 30, Leicester rates as the best road team in the league.
  • The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw back on August 22.

Yes as bizarre as it may sound, we are now into the 21st round of fixtures in the top flight and both Spurs and Leicester are making claims for a title run. Sure, Spurs have been flirting with the idea of top four glory for a few years on the bounce now, but this season it looks like a real possibility. Leicester, on the other hand, have been the talk of the league as they’ve been at or near to the top of the table since the opening week of the campaign.

The two sides actually squared off in the FA Cup just last Sunday, but both managers opted to go with fairly rotated squads as Harry Kane didn’t start but came in as a sub and the likes of Hugo Lloris, Erik Lamela, Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez didn’t feature at all. The game ended 2-2 as the aforementioned Kane hammered home a penalty in the 89th minute.

It would probably be safe to assume that both Mauricio Pochettino and Claudio Ranieri will field full-strength sides at White Hart Lane Wednesday. The Foxes are four points ahead of Spurs in the table with the former keen to extend that lead and the latter eager to close the gap and continue its push toward league-leaders Arsenal.

Wednesday is a busy day in the Premier League but this Spurs-Leicester fixture might not only be the best game of the day, but potentially the game of the season.
