World Cup Stars Prepare for League Play

There have been some big moves since the World Cup with the main ones being Luis Suarez heading to Barcelona and James Rodriguez, who won the Golden Boot, heading to Real Madrid.

Many of the World Cup stars have solid soccer betting odds to win the top goal scorer for their respective league.

Suarez comes to Barcelona with some baggage after his World Cup biting incident. However, while he was suspended for several matches last season for a similar incident, which he will be this season, he still led the Premier League in goals by a wide margin.

While neither [custom:Bet365-link] nor Bovada has current odds posted for the top goal scorer in La Liga you can be sure that Lionel Messi, who scored four goals in the World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Suarez will be on the list.

Neymar was solid for Brazil this summer and will team up with Messi and Suarez to give Barca a great attack.

Rodriguez scored six goals in the World Cup to win the Golden Boot and with him paired up with Ronaldo up front Real will also have a great attack.

The odd man out for Barcelona this summer was Alexis Sanchez, who is now with Arsenal. The Gunners need him to have a good season to win the EPL and he is at 16/1 to be the top goal scorer in England this season.

With Suarez gone from Liverpool the race for the top goal scorer in the Premier League is wide open, according to Bet365. A few of the players that have the best odds did not have a good World Cup.

The player with the best odds is Sergio Aguero (9/2) followed by Daniel Sturridge (5/1), Robin van Persie (5/1), Diego Costa (7/1), Wayne Rooney (10/1), Edin Dzeko (14/1).

Van Persie had a solid World Cup and while Diego Costa did not he has good odds for his new squad Chelsea after transferring from Atletico Madrid.

Like Spain, books have yet to post top goal scorer odds for Germany’s Bundesliga. A couple of players that had solid showings in Brazil will likely have solid betting odds to win that award in Bayern Munich’s Thomas Müller, who scored five goals in the World Cup, and Arjen Robben, who scored three.
