Spurs and Reds Battled to Two Draws Last Season

Liverpool heads to White Hart Lane in North London Saturday to take on a Spurs team they’ve had the number of the past few years. These teams drew their two fixtures last campaign and are set to pop off a match that has a lot of promise to be an absolute cracker.

SHARK BITES
  • Liverpool is unbeaten in 7 straight contests against Tottenham.
  • 6 of the last 8 matches between these teams have had 3 or more goals.
  • Striker Daniel Sturridge is not likely to suit up for the Reds.

Spurs were all over Crystal Palace last week in their 1-0 victory but could not put the finishing touches on their bountiful chances. This could be the game for Tottenham to break free of the reins that have been holding them back offensively so far as Liverpool has had the most goals scored against them through the first two fixtures.

Harry Kane and Vincent Janssen combined for nine shots against Palace and were unable to score. Janssen, the Dutch import, has yet to score his first Premier League goal but it’s definitely looming. He’s finding the space behind defenders and has just been very unlucky none of his strikes have bulged the twine.

Liverpool’s attack looked like a well-oiled machine in the first fixture against Arsenal but fell flat in their 2-1 loss to Burnley last weekend. The backline for the Reds has been more than a little leaky so far and could be exposed by the high-octane attackers possessed by Spurs.

Tottenham is the +135 moneyline favorite at online shop Bovada while Liverpool counters as the +195 road underdog. I see this game easily eclipsing the 2.5 goal total set for it and if things go to plan, the result should fall in favor of Tottenham.
