Tottenham has Gone Unbeaten in Last 7 Matches vs Everton

Saturday will be our first glance at Everton under the direction of Ronald Koeman as the Toffees take on Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park in week one of the Premier League season.

SHARK BITES
  • Everton has not beaten Tottenham since December of 2012.
  • Tottenham and Everton drew both of their Premier League matches last season.
  • Tottenham did not win a match last season until their fifth fixture.

Tottenham was able to retain the majority of their 2015-16 squad that led them to a third-place finish and are coming into the season after a busy transfer window that saw them add significant depth to their pool of attacking players.

The Spurs have a dynamic attack, one of the best backlines in England’s top flight and one of the most talented keepers in the world. Tottenham is known for its notoriously slow EPL starts but Mauricio Pochettino will look to impose his tactics against a club with a new manager and show the league why the Spurs deserve to be in the conversation as one of the best three teams in the Premiership.

Everton has just shipped one of its best defensemen, John Stones, out of town on a big transfer to Manchester City and could be exploited by the Spurs ability to pass the ball in the attacking third. Tottenham will need to keep an extra eye on Romelu Lukaku, the player I picked to take the Golden Boot this year, as he is one of the most lethal counter attackers in football.

Online shop Bovada has Tottenham as the +140 moneyline favorites and the hosting Everton squad as +200 underdogs. These teams have generally played pretty low scoring games but with Everton adjusting to their new manager and the Spurs offense clicking on all cylinders in preseason, I can see the total of 2.5 being easily topped.
