World Cup Round of 16 Betting Preview

The United States is through to the Round of 16 at the 2014 World Cup, and they'll cap off that stage of tournament next Tuesday night as the sportsbooks roll out their betting lines for the eight matchups coming up starting on Saturday afternoon.

The Round of 16 gets underway on Saturday in Belo Horizonte as Brazil takes on Chile as a big favorite on the Round of 16 betting lines at the sportsbooks. As of Thursday night the Brazilians were pegged as the -175 favorites at Bovada, with Chile the +450 underdogs. Brazil won Group A, and Chile finished second in Group B.

Colombia was then the -115 favorite at BetDSI over Uruguay (+330) for later on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, with Colombia winning Group C and Uruguay finishing second in Group D. Uruguay will be playing without Luis Suarez on Saturday; he's been suspended by FIFA for biting an Italian player during the group stage of the tournament.

Sunday's games are then Mexico vs. the Netherlands in Fortaleza and Greece vs. Costa Rica in Recife, with Mexico finishing second in Group A, the Netherlands finishing first in Group B, Greece finishing second in Group C, and Costa Rica finishing first in Group D. The Netherlands (+105) were favored over Mexico (+260) at Bovada as of Thursday night, with Costa Rica (+155) a slight favorite over Greece (+190).

Monday's Round of 16 betting matchups at the 2014 World Cup are then Nigeria vs. France in Brasilia and Algeria vs. Germany in Porto Alegre. France was a big -220 favorite over Nigeria (+600) at Bovada as of Thursday night after they won Group E, with Nigeria finishing second in Group F. Germany ended up atop the Group G standings, with Algeria finishing in second place in Group H; the Germans opened as -350 favorites over the +850 Algerians.

Finally, the United States hits the field in Salvador against Belgium on Tuesday, with Switzerland taking on Argentina in Sao Paulo. As of Thursday night Argentina was the -225 favorite against Switzerland (+650) at BookMaker after they rolled to a first-place finish in Group F, while the United States was the +330 underdog against Belgium (-125). Switzerland ended up second in Group E, Belgium finished first in Group H, and the Americans were second in Group G.
