Although the Cardinals were involved in one of the worst football games in recent memory last Sunday, their game with the Carolina Panthers this week is an important one on Arizona’s schedule and could be the best game on the board this weekend.
The OddsShark Super Computer agrees with that analysis as it’s predicting the favored Panthers to edge the Cardinals by a hair with a projected scoreline of 23.7-23.2. The Panthers have won just one game this season both straight up and against the spread so expect them to scratch and claw to keep their season alive on Sunday.
Arizona got destroyed by Carolina when they met in the NFC Championship Game last year and has underachieved all season. All these things have contributed to the desert donkeys being small underdogs heading into this one but if you believe the computer, they should reward spread bettors.
Favorite Parade
If you were thinking of betting moneylines this week, you may want to reconsider – if you’re looking for value. The computer is predicting that just one underdog wins SU this weekend so you might be better off going with some spreads and totals on Sunday.
The underdog the computer likes in Week 8 is the 3-4 Indianapolis Colts, who will host the 4-2 Kansas City Chiefs. Indy has won 10 of its last 11 games at home when pegged with underdog odds and cashed Colts’ spread bets in all of those instances.
OVERs Galore
Something the computer has not done very often this season is predict OVERs. This week is a different story as it’s currently predicting that nine of the 13 games on the Week 8 slate go OVER. That prediction is in line with trends in the NFL this season as the year-to-date OVER/UNDER record so far is 57-47-3.
Browns expected to win… ATS
Did I get you excited for a second? The phrase “the Browns are expected to lose this week” is becoming a cliché and I’m getting sick of trying to spin their situation in a positive light – Cleveland sucks. You know how I know they suck? They’re 0-7 and are giving a significant amount of points to the 2-5 Jets IN Cleveland.
The computer likes the Browns to at least cover this week but it thinks they drop to 0-8 with a 24-23.4 loss to New York. This game is the most unwatchable one of the year and if you’re not putting money on it, I question your judgment skills and I pity your eyeballs.
