Cubs come up big against Astros
Alfonso Soriano singled in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth, giving the Chicago Cubs a 5-4 victory over the Houston Astros at Wrigley Field Saturday.
Chicago won as a -106 home favorite while the final score played under the 9.5-run total.
Soriano finished the day 2-for-5 while first baseman Micah Hoffpauir went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Starer Randy Wells worked six inning, giving up just four hits before the Cubs bullpen cracked for four runs in the ninth.
Astros first baseman Lance Berkman hit his eighth home run of the season, finishing 2-for-4 with a walk. Carlos Lee also collected his eighth dinger of the year. Starter Roy Oswalt pitched six innings, allowing three runs on six hits.
