Phillies nip Reds
The Philadelphia Phillies scored two runs in the sixth inning to come back and defeat the Cincinnati Reds 4-3 Tuesday night in the opener at Great American Ball Park.
Philadelphia won the game as -140 favorites, and the seven runs went UNDER the posted over/under (8).
Ryan Howard belted a solo home run to lift the Phillies. Cole Hamels threw six innings for the win, and Brad Lidge closed out the ninth with his eighth save.
Jay Bruce went deep in a losing effort for the Reds. Johnny Cuteo gave up seven hits and four runs over seven innings on the mound.
