Pirates take down Padres

The Pittsburgh Pirates scored three runs in the first inning en route to a 5-1 win over the San Diego Padres Friday night in the series-opener at PNC Park.

Brandon Moss led the Pirates with a pair of RBIs. Charlie Morton tossed seven solid innings for the win, allowing just six hits and one run.

Tim Stauffer gave up four hits and three runs over three innings in the loss.
