Mets avoid sweep
Ryan Church drove in the winning run in the 10th inning to lead the New York Mets to a 9-8 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Thursday afternoon to avoid a four-game sweep at PNC Park.
The Mets won the game as +130 underdogs, while the 17 runs sailed OVER the posted over/under (8.5).
Fernando Tatis belted a two-run homer and scored four runs, and Daniel Murphy pinch hit with a two-run single for the Mets. Francisco Rodriguez tossed two innings of relief to earn the victory.
Garrett Jones hit a solo home run and drove in three runs for the Pirates. Matt Capps surrendered the winning run and was tagged with the loss.
