Cardinals take down Mets
Rick Ankiel's run-scoring double in the bottom of the eighth inning broke a 4-4 tie, as the St. Louis Cardinals went on to defeat the New York Mets 6-4 on Tuesday night.
St. Louis cashed as -135 home favorites as the teams played over the 9-run total listed by oddsmakers.
Ankiel finished 3-for-5 for the Cardinals, while Jason Motte picked up the win in relief of starter Todd Wellemeyer for St. Louis.
Carlos Beltran was 2-for-3 with a run batted in for New York, as J.J. Putz took the loss after allowing the double to Ankiel.
