Jeff Mathis drove in two runs to help the LA Angels defeat the Boston Red Sox 6-3 in the opener of a three-game series at Angel Stadium Friday night.
The Angels won the game as a -110 pick’em, and the nine runs went as a PUSH against the posted over/under (9).
Howie Kendrick drove in two runs for the Angels, and Chone Figgins drove in a run. Jered Weaver tossed 6 2-3 innings for the win, and Scot Shields threw just over an innings to earn the save.
Kevin Youkilis went 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in one run for the Red Sox. Tim Wakefield suffered the loss, giving up three runs off six hits over six innings of work.
