Royals double Mariners; take opener
The Kansas City Royals scored five runs late in the game and came away with an 8-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners Thursday night in the opener of a four-game series at Safeco Field.
Kansas City won the game as a +145 underdog, while the 12 runs sailed OVER the posted over/under (8.5).
Brayan Pena belted a two-run homer to lead the way for the Royals. Kyle Davies allowed five hits and two runs over six innings in the win.
Franklin Gutierrez had two hits and drove in one run for the Mariners. Doug Fister allowed five runs off five hits over six innings of work.
