The Seattle Mariners scored four runs in the first inning and went on to defeat the Kansas City Royals 8-4 Saturday night at Safeco Field.

Seattle won the game as -140 favorites, while the 12 runs made it OVER the posted over/under (8.5).

Jack Hanrahan led the way with a solo home run and two runs batted in for the Mariners. Ian Snell improved to 3-1 with the win, allowing three hits and two runs over five innings of work.

John Buck belted a two-run homer for the Royals. Gil Meche gave up seven runs over four innings in the loss.
