Nationals shock St. Louis
The Washington Nationals rode a nine-inning effort from starter Shairon Martis to a 6-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals at Nationals Park Saturday afternoon.
Washington won as a +107 home underdog while the final score played under the 10-run total.
On top of Martis' six strikeouts, the Nats got production from left fielder Adam Dunn, who knocked a three-run home run in the fourth. Third baseman Ryan Zimmerman went 2-for-4.
The Cardinals' lone run was on a solo home run from outfielder Colby Rasmus. Starter Joel Pineiro pitched seven innings, allowing four runs on six hits.
