Cards upend Nationals in messy affair
After two rain delays Thursday night at Nationals Park, it was the St. Louis Cardinals coming out in front with a 4-1 win over the Washington Nationals in a rain-shortened seven-inning game.
St. Louis won the game as -200 favorites, while the five runs went UNDER the posted over/under (8.5).
Rick Ankiel homered, and Skip Schumaker went 2-for-3 with one RBI for the Cardinals. Adam Wainwright whiffed seven batters over six complete innings for the win.
Alberto Gonzalez drove in the lone run for the Nationals. Collin Balester surrendered three runs over three innings in the loss.
