The New York Mets snapped a four-game losing skid with a 4-3 win over the Washington Nationals Friday night in the opener of a three-game set at Shea Stadium.

New York won the game as -300 favorites, while the seven runs went UNDER the posted over/under (8).

Luis Castillo had two hits and drove in one run, while scoring another for the Mets. Johan Santana whiffed 10 batters over six innings for the victory.

Jesus Flores smacked a two-run homer in a losing effort for the Nationals. Scott Olsen gave up nine hits and three runs in the loss.
