Orioles blank Rays
Jeremy Guthrie pitched six scoreless innings in the Baltimore Orioles 6-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Camden Yards Saturday.
Baltimore won as a -118 home favorite while the final score fell under the 9.5-run total.
Guthrie stuck out just two batters and allowed five hits in the shutout. The bullpen came up big in the final three innings, giving up just three hits. Melvin Mora was only 1-for-3 on the day but rocked a Grand Slam in the first inning to set the tone for the game.
The Rays Even Longoria went 2-for-4 to improve his season batting average to .444. Starter Jeff Niemann settled down after a five-run first inning, allowing six runs on six hits in over five innings of work.
