Red Sox win slug fest with Yankees
After failing to score in the first three innings of Saturday's game against the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox erupted for 16 runs on 13 hits to down their rivals 16-11 at Fenway Park.
Boston won as a -139 home favorite while the final score played over the 9-run total.
Boston got big games from Jacoby Ellsbury and Mike Lowell, who both registered two hits including home runs from each. Kevin Youkilis also knocked one out of the park while Jason Bay went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
New York second baseman Robinson Cano hit two home runs for five RBI. Starer A.J. Burnett had nearly identical stats as his Boston counterpart, Josh Beckett. Both pitchers gave up eight runs through five innings of work.
