The New York Yankees scored three runs in the second inning en route to a hard-fought 4-3 victory over the Minnesota Twins Wednesday night at the Metrodome.

New York won this game as -155 favorites, but the seven runs fell UNDER the posted over/under (9.5).

Brett Gardner led the Yankees with two RBIs, and Derek Jeter had two hits with one RBI. A.J. Burnett allowed two runs off seven hits in 6 1-3 innings, while Mariano Rivera collected his 22nd save.

Joe Mauer went 3-for-5 at the plate with a two-run homer for the Twins. Anthony Swarzak gave up eight hits and four runs over 4 1-3 innings in the loss.
