Stanford Defeats Sacramento State 52-17 - Recap
Andrew Luck sliced and diced the Hornets defense for 316 yards as Stanford handed Sacramento State a 52-17 defeat on Saturday at Stanford Stadium.
Stanford did not, however, defeat the Hornets against the spread, which closed at 41.5 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 69.5.
Alex Loukas rushed for 57 yards, while Usua Amanam added 50 yards in the win. Doug Baldwin and Ryan Whalen added 111 and 64 receiving yards respectively.
Curtis Shaw rushed for 30 yards for Sacramento State, while Bryan Hilliard added 28 yards. McLeod Bethel-Thompson threw for 69 yards for the Hornets, while receivers Morris Norrise and Chase Deadder had 27 and 26 yards respectively.
Sacramento State was outgained by Stanford 529-167 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 20-12 by the Cardinal.
The time of possession battle favored Stanford as their offense was on the field for 31:21, longer than the 28:39 of their opponents.
