Stanford Defeats Washington State 38-28 - Recap
Stepfan Taylor scampered through the Washington State defense for 142 yards as Stanford handed the Cougars a 38-28 defeat on Saturday at Stanford Stadium.
Stanford did not, however, defeat the Cougars against the spread, which closed at 36.5 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 64.5.
Andrew Luck completed 20 of 28 pass attempts for 190 yards for the Cardinal in the win. He was picked off 1 time by the Cougars defense.
Carl Winston rushed for 31 yards for Washington State, while James Montgomery added 29 yards. Jeff Tuel threw for 298 yards for the Cougars, while receivers Marquess Wilson and Jared Karstetter had 150 and 101 yards respectively.
Stanford outgained Washington State 439-388 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 28-19 by the Cardinal.
Washington State lost the time of possession battle 37:51/22:09, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
