Austyn Carta-Samuels's 319-yard performance through the air was the key in Wyoming's 28-20 win over Southern Utah on Saturday at War Memorial Stadium.
Wyoming won on the scoreboard, but lost at the pay window as they failed to cover the 21.5-point spread. The game went UNDER the consensus closing total of 52.5.
Alvester Alexander rushed for 40 yards, while James Davis added 14 yards in the win. Zach Bolger and David Leonard added 134 and 58 receiving yards respectively.
Austin Minefee rushed for 75 yards for Southern Utah, while Deckar Alexander added 64 yards. Ammon Olsen threw for 193 yards for the Thunderbirds, while receivers Fesi Sitake and Tysson Poots had 63 and 61 yards respectively.
Wyoming lost the offensive yardage battle to Southern Utah 384-355 yards in Saturday's game. Southern Utah had more first downs as that total ended up 24-20.
The time of possession battle favored Southern Utah as their offense was on the field for 34:43, longer than the 25:17 of their opponents.
Wyoming heads into a Week 2 battle against Texas. Southern Utah, meanwhile, will have their next action against San Jose State.
