Minnesota vs Southern Cal Recap - Trojans Win 19-17
Matt Barkley led the way with 304 passing yards on Saturday as the Trojans picked up a 19-17 victory over the Golden Gophers at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
The Trojans earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the 24-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played UNDER the total of 51.5 were rewarded with a winning wager.
D.J. Morgan rushed for 70 yards, while Curtis McNeal added 33 yards in the win. Robert Woods and Marqise Lee added 177 and 32 receiving yards respectively.
Duane Bennett rushed for 53 yards for Minnesota, while MarQueis Gray added 47 yards. Max Shortell threw for 98 yards for the Golden Gophers, while receivers Malcolm Moulton and Marcus Jones had 51 and 51 yards respectively.
Minnesota was outgained by Southern Cal 371-302 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 24-20 by the Trojans.
The time of possession battle favored Southern Cal as their offense was on the field for 32:44, longer than the 27:16 of their opponents.
Southern Cal heads into a Week 2 battle against Utah. Minnesota, meanwhile, will have their next action against New Mexico State.
