Southern Illinois vs Mississippi Recap - Rebels Win 42-24
Jeff Scott tore up the turf for 118 rushing yards on Saturday to lead the Rebels to a 42-24 win over the Salukis at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
Mississippi did not, however, defeat the Salukis against the spread, which closed at 21 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 58.5.
Zack Stoudt completed 11 of 18 pass attempts for 118 yards for the Rebels in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Steve Strother rushed for 116 yards for Southern Illinois, while Paul McIntosh added 80 yards. Paul McIntosh threw for 197 yards for the Salukis, while receivers John Lantz and Luke Standiford had 75 and 60 yards respectively.
Mississippi was outgained by Southern Illinois 420-315 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 19-18 by the Salukis.
Mississippi lost the time of possession battle 30:57/29:03, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
