Dylan Thompson led the way with 330 passing yards on Saturday as the Gamecocks picked up a 48-10 victory over the Pirates at Williams-Brice Stadium.
South Carolina won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 21-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 50.5.
Marcus Lattimore rushed for 40 yards, while Kenny Miles added 30 yards in the win. Rory Anderson and Damiere Byrd added 90 and 81 receiving yards respectively.
Vintavious Cooper rushed for 31 yards for East Carolina, while Reggie Bullock added 11 yards. Rio Johnson threw for 193 yards for the Pirates, while receivers Justin Hardy and Justin Jones had 111 and 46 yards respectively.
East Carolina was outgained by South Carolina 528-403 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 25-18 by the Gamecocks.
South Carolina lost the time of possession battle 31:18/28:42, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
