Recap - Gamecocks Defeat Tennessee 38-35
Connor Shaw was good for 356 yards through the air on Saturday as the Gamecocks got past the Volunteers by a score of 38-35 at Williams-Brice Stadium.
The Gamecocks earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the 13.5-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played OVER the total of 54.5 were rewarded with a winning wager.
Marcus Lattimore rushed for 65 yards, while Kenny Miles added 34 yards in the win. Justice Cunningham and Bruce Ellington added 108 and 101 receiving yards respectively.
Marlin Lane rushed for 56 yards for Tennessee, while Cordarrelle Patterson added 21 yards. Tyler Bray threw for 368 yards for the Volunteers, while receivers Zach Rogers and Justin Hunter had 107 and 90 yards respectively.
Tennessee was outgained by South Carolina 510-472 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 25-23 by the Gamecocks.
The time of possession battle favored South Carolina as their offense was on the field for 35:22, longer than the 24:38 of their opponents.
South Carolina looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Arkansas. Tennessee will aim to get back on the winning track vs Troy.
