Arizona State Defeats Illinois 45-14 - Recap
The Fighting Illini were burned by Chris Coyle for 131 receiving yards on Saturday as the Sun Devils picked up a 45-14 win at Sun Devil Stadium.
Arizona State won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 6-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 47.5.
Taylor Kelly completed 18 of 24 pass attempts for 249 yards for the Sun Devils in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Josh Ferguson rushed for 101 yards for Illinois, while Donovonn Young added 65 yards. Reilly O'Toole threw for 54 yards for the Fighting Illini, while receivers Ryan Lankford and Josh Ferguson had 31 and 17 yards respectively.
Illinois lost the offensive yardage battle to Arizona State 510-332 yards in Saturday's game. Arizona State had more first downs as that total ended up 26-19.
Illinois led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 35:16/24:44 split in that important category.
Arizona State looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Missouri. Illinois will aim to get back on the winning track vs Charleston Southern.
