Texas El Paso Defeats New Mexico State 42-10 - Recap
The battle between the Miners and Aggies didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as New Mexico State was handed a 42-10 defeat on Saturday at Sun Bowl.
Texas El Paso won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 15-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 56.5.
Trevor Vittatoe completed 19 of 30 pass attempts for 246 yards for the Miners in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Seth Smith rushed for 46 yards for New Mexico State, while Kenny Turner added 19 yards. Matt Christian threw for 200 yards for the Aggies, while receivers Marcus Allen and Kyle Nelson had 65 and 30 yards respectively.
Texas El Paso outgained New Mexico State 495-296 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 25-16 by the Miners.
The time of possession battle favored Texas El Paso as their offense was on the field for 33:19, longer than the 26:41 of their opponents.
Next game, Texas El Paso takes its act home to face Memphis looking for another win. For New Mexico State, they head on the road to face Kansas.
