Sooners vs Miners Final: 24-7 - Recap
Damien Williams tore up the turf for 104 rushing yards on Saturday to lead the Sooners to a 24-7 win over the Miners at Sun Bowl.
The Sooners earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the 29.5-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played UNDER the total of 63.5 were rewarded with a winning wager.
Landry Jones completed 21 of 36 pass attempts for 222 yards for the Sooners in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Nathan Jeffery rushed for 177 yards for Texas El Paso, while Xay Williams added 16 yards. Nick Lamaison threw for 39 yards for the Miners, while receivers Kevin Perry and Eric Tomlinson had 13 and 11 yards respectively.
Texas El Paso was outgained by Oklahoma 427-255 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 19-13 by the Sooners.
The time of possession battle favored Oklahoma as their offense was on the field for 31:37, longer than the 28:23 of their opponents.
Oklahoma looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Florida A&M. Texas El Paso will aim to get back on the winning track at Mississippi.
