Akron Falls 28-17 to Golden Flashes - Recap
Akron was unable to slow down Sam Kirkland, who produced 109 receiving yards as the Golden Flashes defeated the Zips 28-17 on Saturday.
Kent State did not, however, defeat the Zips against the spread, which closed at 17 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 47.5.
Spencer Keith completed 17 of 34 pass attempts for 186 yards for the Golden Flashes in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Alex Allen rushed for 51 yards for Akron, while Jalil Carter added 34 yards. Patrick Nicely threw for 133 yards for the Zips, while receivers Jeremy LaFrance and Jalil Carter had 75 and 16 yards respectively.
Kent State outgained Akron 261-195 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 18-15 by the Zips.
Akron led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 32:47/27:13 split in that important category.
Kent State looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Toledo. Akron will aim to get back on the winning track at Ohio.
