North Texas Defeats Troy 38-33 - Recap
Derek Thompson was good for 331 yards through the air on Saturday as the Mean Green got past the Trojans by a score of 38-33 at Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium.
North Texas won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 8-point spread as underdogs. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 53.5.
James Hamilton rushed for 105 yards, while Lance Dunbar added 38 yards in the win. Christopher Bynes and Ivan Delgado added 134 and 89 receiving yards respectively.
Shawn Southward rushed for 84 yards for Troy, while D.J. Taylor added 38 yards. Corey Robinson threw for 267 yards for the Trojans, while receivers Eric Thomas and Chandler Worthy had 70 and 60 yards respectively.
North Texas outgained Troy 503-383 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 23-21 by the Mean Green.
Troy lost the time of possession battle 36:30/23:30, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Next game, North Texas takes its act home to face Western Kentucky looking for another win. For Troy, they head home to face Florida Atlantic.
