Hoosiers vs Hilltoppers Final: 38-21 - Recap
Ben Chappell sliced and diced the Hilltoppers defense for 366 yards as Indiana handed Western Kentucky a 38-21 defeat on Saturday at L.T. Smith Stadium.
Indiana won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 14-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 60.5.
Nick Turner rushed for 33 yards, while Darius Willis added 30 yards in the win. Damarlo Belcher and Tandon Doss added 135 and 62 receiving yards respectively.
Bobby Rainey rushed for 105 yards for Western Kentucky, while Kawaun Jakes added 30 yards. Kawaun Jakes threw for 144 yards for the Hilltoppers, while receivers Jack Doyle and Marcus Vasquez had 47 and 41 yards respectively.
Western Kentucky lost the offensive yardage battle to Indiana 466-288 yards in Saturday's game. Indiana had more first downs as that total ended up 27-16.
Western Kentucky lost the time of possession battle 31:53/28:07, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Next game, Indiana takes its act home to face Akron looking for another win. For Western Kentucky, they head on the road to face South Florida.
