Northern Illinois Defeats Akron 50-14 - Recap
Akron couldn't hang with the Huskies on Saturday as Northern Illinois blasted the Zips 50-14 in Week 5 action at InfoCision Stadium.
Northern Illinois won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 13.5-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 47.5.
Chandler Harnish completed 16 of 20 pass attempts for 281 yards for the Huskies in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Alex Allen rushed for 99 yards for Akron, while Nate Burney added 31 yards. Patrick Nicely threw for 128 yards for the Zips, while receivers Jeremy LaFrance and Jalil Carter had 57 and 34 yards respectively.
Akron lost the offensive yardage battle to Northern Illinois 520-257 yards in Saturday's game. Northern Illinois had more first downs as that total ended up 26-11.
Northern Illinois led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 31:55/28:05 split in that important category.
Next game, Northern Illinois takes its act home to face Temple looking for another win. For Akron, they head on the road to face Kent State.
