Recap - Cowboys Defeat New Mexico 38-31
Brett Smith tore up the turf for 138 rushing yards on Saturday to lead the Cowboys to a 38-31 win over the Lobos at War Memorial Stadium.
The Cowboys earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the 13-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played UNDER the total of 71.5 were rewarded with a winning wager.
Brett Smith completed 19 of 33 pass attempts for 247 yards for the Cowboys in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Cole Gautsche rushed for 113 yards for New Mexico, while Kasey Carrier added 104 yards. Cole Gautsche threw for 156 yards for the Lobos, while receivers Jeric Magnant and Marquis Bundy had 55 and 48 yards respectively.
New Mexico was outgained by Wyoming 532-436 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 26-22 by the Cowboys.
Wyoming lost the time of possession battle 35:41/24:19, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Next game, Wyoming takes its act home to face Colorado State looking for another win. For New Mexico, they head home to face Utah State.
