Washington Defeats Rutgers 30-14 - Recap

Washington earned a 30-14 victory over Rutgers on Friday in Week 1 action at High Point Solutions Stadium.

The Huskies earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the -28.0-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played UNDER the total of 54.0 were rewarded with a winning wager.

Myles Gaskin rushed for 59 yards, while Lavon Coleman added 40 yards in the win. Dante Pettis and Myles Gaskin added 85 and 79 receiving yards respectively.

Gus Edwards rushed for 79 yards for Rutgers, while Robert Martin added 55 yards. Kyle Bolin threw for 178 yards for the Scarlet Knights, while receivers Damon Mitchell and Dacoven Bailey had 46 and 42 yards respectively.

Washington outgained Rutgers 368-309 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 19-17 by the Scarlet Knights.

Washington lost the time of possession battle 38:09-21:51, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.

Next game, Washington takes its act home to face Montana looking for another win. For Rutgers, they head home to face Eastern Michigan.
