Tarean Folston scampered through the Navy defense for 140 yards as Notre Dame handed the Midshipmen a 38-34 defeat on Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium.
Notre Dame did not, however, defeat the Midshipmen against the spread, which closed at 16.5 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 48.5.
Tommy Rees completed 12 of 20 pass attempts for 242 yards for the Fighting Irish in the win. He was picked off 2 times by the Midshipmen defense.
Chris Swain rushed for 85 yards for Navy, while Quinton Singleton added 77 yards. Keenan Reynolds threw for 88 yards for the Midshipmen, while receivers Matt Aiken and Marcus Thomas had 34 and 25 yards respectively.
Navy was outgained by Notre Dame 506-419 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 28-25 by the Midshipmen.
The time of possession battle favored Navy as their offense was on the field for 37:36, longer than the 22:24 of their opponents.
Notre Dame looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Pittsburgh. Navy will aim to get back on the winning track vs Hawaii.
