Recap - Thrashers Defeat Anaheim 5-4
Atlanta needed a shootout to earn a 5-4 victory over Anaheim on Friday in NHL action at Honda Center.

The win was clinched by Nigel Dawes, who beat Jonas Hiller in a shootout to gain the extra point in the standings for Atlanta. Anthony Stewart (3) and Chris Thorburn each scored for the Thrashers in the victory. Stewart opened the scoring for Atlanta, finding the back of the net at 0:17 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Andrew Ladd and Bryan Little.
Chris Mason stopped 37 of 41 Anaheim shots in the victory.
Anaheim got goals from Teemu Selanne, Toni Lydman, Ryan Getzlaf, and Corey Perry in the loss, but it wasn't enough.
Jonas Hiller stopped 29 of 33 shots for the Ducks, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.
On the power play, Atlanta went 3-for-4, while the Ducks were 3-for-7 with the man advantage.
Atlanta lost the shots on goal battle to Anaheim by a margin of 41-33.
Next game, Atlanta takes its act on the road to face San Jose looking for another win. For Anaheim, they head home to face Phoenix.
