Washington Falls 7-0 to Rangers - Recap

New York cruised to victory on Sunday, earning an easy 7-0 win over the Capitals at Madison Square Garden.

Bettors who backed the Rangers were rewarded as -101 underdogs at sportsbooks. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go OVER the closing total of 6.

Ryan Callahan (2), Marian Gaborik, Brandon Prust, Marc Staal, Brandon Dubinsky, and Artem Anisimov each scored for the Rangers in the victory. Prust opened the scoring for New York, finding the back of the net at 17:57 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Alexander Frolov and Brian Boyle.

Henrik Lundqvist turned in a 31-save effort for the Rangers.

Semyon Varlamov stopped 13 of 20 shots for the Capitals, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, New York went 1-for-3, while the Capitals were 0-for-4 with the man advantage.

Washington outshot New York 31-20 in the game.

New York heads into a battle against the Penguins. Washington, meanwhile, will have their next action against Anaheim.
