Hurricanes Fall 5-1 Against Tampa Bay - Game Recap

The battle between the Lightning and Hurricanes didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Carolina was handed a 5-1 defeat on Monday at St. Pete Times Forum.

Tampa Bay won as a -160 favorite, while Over-Under bettors who played OVER the total of 5.5 were rewarded at the payout window.

Brett Clark, Martin St. Louis, Sean Bergenheim, Dominic Moore, and Steven Stamkos each scored for the Lightning in the victory. Moore opened the scoring for Tampa Bay, finding the back of the net at 5:48 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Teddy Purcell and Dana Tyrell.

Dan Ellis turned in a 21-save effort for the Lightning.

Carolina got a goal from Sergei Samsonov in the loss, but it wasn't enough.

Justin Peters stopped 29 of 34 shots for the Hurricanes, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, Tampa Bay went 2-for-3, while the Hurricanes were 1-for-5 with the man advantage.

Tampa Bay outshot Carolina 34-22 in the game.

Tampa Bay looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Islanders. The Hurricanes will aim to get back on the winning track vs Montreal.
