The battle between the Oilers and Flames didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Calgary was handed an 8-2 defeat on Wednesday at Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Oilers were a -122 favorite in the win. The combined score went OVER the total, which closed at 5.5.

Edmonton got goals from Jordan Eberle (2), Nail Yakupov (2), Ryan Whitney, Sam Gagner, Taylor Hall, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins in the victory. Gagner opened the scoring at 9:27 of the first period.

Devan Dubnyk turned in a 19-save effort for the Oilers.

Matt Stajan (2) scored for the Flames, finding the net behind Devan Dubnyk.

Joey MacDonald stopped 31 of 39 shots for the Flames, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

Edmonton scored 3 times on 5 chances on the power play, while Calgary went 0-for-1 with the man advantage.

Calgary lost the shots on goal battle to Edmonton by a margin of 39-21.

Next game, Edmonton takes its act on the road to face Vancouver looking for another win. For Calgary, they head on the road to face San Jose.
