Montreal Falls 5-1 to Maple Leafs - Recap
The battle between the Maple Leafs and Canadiens didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Montreal was handed a 5-1 defeat on Saturday at Air Canada Centre.
The Maple Leafs were a +105 underdog in the win. The combined score went OVER the total, which closed at 5.5.
Jay McClement, Dion Phaneuf, Phil Kessel, Tyler Bozak, and Leo Komarov each scored for the Maple Leafs in the victory. Bozak opened the scoring for Toronto, finding the back of the net at 1:59 of the first period. The goal was assisted by James van Riemsdyk and Phil Kessel.
James Reimer turned in a 36-save effort for the Maple Leafs.
Montreal got a goal from Davis Drewiske in the loss, but it wasn't enough.
Peter Budaj stopped 22 of 24 shots for the Canadiens, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.
On the power play, Toronto went 1-for-5, while the Canadiens were 0-for-4 with the man advantage.
Montreal outshot Toronto 37-28 in the game.
Next game, Toronto takes its act home to face New Jersey looking for another win. For Montreal, they head home to face Philadelphia.
