The battle between the Stars and Maple Leafs didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Toronto was handed a 7-1 defeat on Thursday at American Airlines Center.

Dallas got goals from Valeri Nichushkin (2), Shawn Horcoff, Trevor Daley, Rich Peverley, Jamie Benn, and Cody Eakin in the victory. Benn opened the scoring at 7:09 of the first period.

Kari Lehtonen turned in a 24-save effort for the Stars.

Toronto got a goal from Nikolai Kulemin in the loss, but it wasn't enough.

James Reimer stopped 11 of 15 shots for the Maple Leafs, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, Dallas went 1-for-2, while the Maple Leafs were 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

Toronto lost the shots on goal battle to Dallas by a margin of 28-25.

Next game, Dallas takes its act home to face Pittsburgh looking for another win. For Toronto, they head on the road to face Winnipeg.
