Washington Falls 6-4 to Senators - Recap
Bobby Ryan scored a pair of goals against the Capitals as Ottawa handed Washington a 6-4 defeat on Wednesday at Verizon Center.
Ottawa won as a +125 underdog, while Over-Under bettors who played OVER the total of 5.5 were rewarded at the payout window.
Bobby Ryan (2), Chris Phillips, Zack Smith, Colin Greening, and Mika Zibanejad each scored for the Senators in the victory. Ryan opened the scoring for Ottawa, finding the back of the net at 13:28 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Patrick Wiercioch and Clarke MacArthur.
Craig Anderson turned in a 29-save effort for the Senators.
Brooks Laich, Eric Fehr, John Carlson, and Marcus Johansson scored for the Capitals, finding the net behind Craig Anderson.
Braden Holtby stopped 35 of 40 shots for the Capitals, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.
On the power play, Ottawa went 3-for-6, while the Capitals were 2-for-4 with the man advantage.
Washington lost the shots on goal battle to Ottawa by a margin of 41-33.
Next game, Ottawa takes its act home to face Vancouver looking for another win. For Washington, they head home to face Montreal.
